How I work

The vast range of therapies and approaches can make it hard to figure out what's right for you. Here I describe my approach, way of working and fee structure.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy

I work in a psychoanalytic, relational way. That means I think change comes from talking together in a way that pays particular attention to repeating patterns in relationships, and the early experiences that may be shaping them unconsciously.

The initial session

I usually offer two or three initial sessions for us to explore working together. These allow me to give you my opinion as to whether I can help, and you a chance to see how I work and decide if you would like to enter into therapy with me. I see people once, twice or three times weekly.

Fees

As an experienced trainee, I offer a reduced fee of £50 per session as well as some spaces on an income-based sliding scale for those on low income and students.

Please note, I do charge for missed sessions, but try and offer alternatives where advance notice is given.

Diversity, inclusion & ethics

I am queer-positive and affirming of all sexualities and genders, including those who are trans, non-binary or gender non-conforming. This means I don't pathologise sexual preferences, orientations and expressions. Nor do I work from normative or reductive gender views. I also pay attention to the real impact on people of systemic inequities including race, socioeconomic background, age, disability, gender etc

I am a registered Trainee Psychotherapist with the UKCP, and work in line with their Code of Ethics. I am also a Trainee Professional Member of The Association of Group and Individual Psychotherapy (AGIP).
